Snapped wheel nut removal

Snapped 4 Rolson titanium drill bits trying to get the ba*tard thing out. They're designed to drill through steel beams ffs.

Down to the hardware store tomorrow and I'm just going to drill the whole stud out and replace it.

Anyone have a part number for a replacement stud?
 
You ain't going to drill the stud out to handy... What size drill bit were you using?? Itt could take hours to drill it, so you will need to be patient, drill it slowly and don't bend the bit , spray a bit of wd40 or oil on it aswell...

I wouldn't bother about Titaniium this or that, just get a good set of normal bits for steel... They will probably go blunt from the heat so it's not going to matter if there made of NASA top secret material :)

make sure and gave a good punch mark in the nut so you can start the bit in it, and drill at a slow speed...

The stud will be tougher than the nut, you have to drill the lengthy of the stud.... And go up to about 8-10 mm eventually...

To get at the collar of stud you have to remove hub... You can't get your wheel off so it's not really easy to drill it from the back...
Drilling the nut is your only option imo
 
Started off with a small bit and worked up to a 4'. Going to charge the battery on the cordless and use that tomorrow because my corded hammer drill has no speed settings.

With the 3' there's was ample space between the stud and the wall of the alloy so I'll try get a good quality bit tomorrow and take my time. Just keep drilling out section after section until it breaks.
 
As above rolson are shite there like the renault of cars in drill bits . Get yourself a 1 dewalt 3mm bit and it will do the job or a standard good bit :thumbsup:
 
When you have the hole drilled and there is little thickness left of nut metal.... Then you can take your anger out and beat the liven Fuk out of it with a chisel to break it...

You probably know... But just incase, you know you don't use hammer action on drill yea?

Yep just had it set to rotate. Patience will be the best course of action me thinks. Then smashey smashey with the lump hammer and punch.

Even better idea... Let Dave take it out F.O.C because of the headache and you buy the one stud off him.. LOL :icon_grin:

Lads got in touch with Richie in pro parts and he said he will knock 10e off a set of nuts and lock nuts for every five packs sold as a group buy.

So that's 16 nuts and 4 lock nuts in same colour for €40 (originally €50)

Lads if you want to go ahead with this let me know how I can start new topic and keep this one on topic.

Hope you get sorted getting the nut of man nearly had same problem on previous scooby with alu nuts they twisted and was lucky to get them off before they broke.

Stud supply not fitting ha.


Re fitting. Is it front or rear?

Have you got it drilled and done where able to remove the wheel?
