Prices for the Subaru BRZ have been confirmed. Subaru’s back-to-basics sports coupe will be priced from £24,995, the same price as its sister car, the Toyota GT 86. But while the Toyota is offered in a single trim level, Subaru offers two spec choices.

The entry-level BRZ 2.0i SE is equipped with the same 197bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine and six-speed manual transmission as the GT 86. It has 17-inch alloy wheels, a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, ESP and dual-zone air-conditioning. Like the Toyota, there’s keyless entry with push-button start, electrically-folding mirrors, cruise control, a leather steering wheel, handbrake cover and gearlever and a six-speaker stereo with iPod connectivity.

The top-spec BRZ 2.0i SE Lux simply adds heated leather seats on top of theses features, and is priced at£1,500 above the SE.

The BRZ offers only three options, the most notable the six-speed automatic transmission with paddleshifters (£1,500), as well as sat-nav and special paint finishes for the six-colour range. This makes the top-spec SE Lux automatic £27,995.

Every BRZ comes with Subaru’s ETCo (Everything Taken Care of) service, which offers owners minor scratch and dent repairs, wheel repairs, valet, winter tyre storage among other services.

A more basic third model badged as the S will join the line-up in 2013, while an STI version has been rumoured, too.

The Subaru BRZ goes on sale this summer.

Could well be a 50k euro mx5
[/quote]

thats what i was thinking Ken , doubt we'll see many

Based on the expected c02 rating of 160 then vrt will be 24% and car tax will only be €430 per year. I can't see this hitting 50k to be honest, would take a guess at 40k for base range

couldn't see it been at the races powerwise compared tp the a5 or 350 Brian , even the tdi a5 is in the 225 bhp area , 350 is in around 280-290 bhp , it may out handle these heavier rivals but it wont out run them , nor will it have near the same levels of finish and trim or space ,

that toyota link has a place for prices on the right but they are to be confirmed (tbc)
should be on there in the next month i would guess

Jesus Brian thats being bit optimistic, sure the Currency changeover alone has it up at 35-36k euro.... Do you honestly think the Revenue is going to only look 4 to 5k vrt????? They get that on a Punto ffs :)

it didnt get a great review in the EVO car magazine, they picked a standard v3 impreza turbo over it which is 15 years old.

its two heavy @(1250kg) for 200bhp to be a proper sports car, cant see it been a winner at all.

i dont like the look of it! and its not practical for impreza drivers to change to it, why any subaru driver would want to go from a 300bhp 4wd saloon that can be used for everyday driving and suits irish roads to a 200bhp rwd coupe that weights the same is ridiculous, if there aiming it as a weekend car its to slow and too heavy to be fun to drive.

young lads wont/cant drive it cos of the cost, it should have cost no more than 30k here or 20 in the uk to sell and as above the mx5 is cheaper, comes with option of hard/soft top and already has a big fan base..

its all to average for me, its either a weekend toy for fun(which its not) or a practical car that cant be used for the weekends fun. which its not either.

subaru haven't made a good car in 5 years now since the hawk spec c or ra-r. i feel i have bought my last subaru. cry!!!!!!!

Thats funny, you have changed your tune since this a few months back :multijump:

i think subaru are going in the right direction, light, rwd and good mpg, a real drivers car like a mx5, this will be a little less hairdressy than an open top mx5 but i'm still confused by the stories im reading, subaru have gone N/A engine but the rest of europe eg. bmw are going twin turbo and soon enough tripple turbo small engined cars, even the new m5 has dropped 2 cylinders and the m3 will do the same.

i hope they sell over here, as i will never buy a new car but hopefully a few will come up second hand in a few years time.

People keep going on about them being light, there the same or nearly the same weight as gc8 which is 4wd.... and near 100bhp more... where is the lightness considering its RWD???

i changed my tune because subaru didnt deliver what they promised ken!

is it light?

when did i post that ken??

when subaru were shining light up there arses they couldnt back up.
