Prices for the Subaru BRZ have been confirmed. Subaru’s back-to-basics sports coupe will be priced from £24,995, the same price as its sister car, the Toyota GT 86. But while the Toyota is offered in a single trim level, Subaru offers two spec choices.
The entry-level BRZ 2.0i SE is equipped with the same 197bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine and six-speed manual transmission as the GT 86. It has 17-inch alloy wheels, a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, ESP and dual-zone air-conditioning. Like the Toyota, there’s keyless entry with push-button start, electrically-folding mirrors, cruise control, a leather steering wheel, handbrake cover and gearlever and a six-speaker stereo with iPod connectivity.
The top-spec BRZ 2.0i SE Lux simply adds heated leather seats on top of theses features, and is priced at£1,500 above the SE.
The BRZ offers only three options, the most notable the six-speed automatic transmission with paddleshifters (£1,500), as well as sat-nav and special paint finishes for the six-colour range. This makes the top-spec SE Lux automatic £27,995.
Every BRZ comes with Subaru’s ETCo (Everything Taken Care of) service, which offers owners minor scratch and dent repairs, wheel repairs, valet, winter tyre storage among other services.
A more basic third model badged as the S will join the line-up in 2013, while an STI version has been rumoured, too.
The Subaru BRZ goes on sale this summer.
