jesus that awfull, you were lucky it wasnt your drivers door that got it...it could have being alot worse...
 
So the assessment engineer guy rang me to let me know what sort of damage there is, he said the whole car is twisted, all doors are knocked out of alignment, even if the car was repaired, it would never drive right again. Does anyone know what happens in the case of a write off? I have a few bits on the car i wanna take off and i have standard bits to put back on, but the engineer said i should take any bits off and put it back to standard. If i wanted to buy the car back off them can i do this and how much does it usually cost? all the engine/gearbox etc is still undamaged so could make a few quid from breaking it myself

If your car is a write off do you get to keep it all the time! :dunno:
When I wrote off the 03 impreza they let me keep it and I managed to sell it on as parts! :)
A bit more cash then just the insurance pay out! :thumbsup:
 
The insurance company will give you a value for your car, lets say 12k (i dunno, just a made up figure) Then they will give a value of what they think the car is like in its current state, lets say 3k. Now you will have the option of taking the 12k and leaving the car with them or you can take 9k and keep the car,
Dont be afraid to argue the value of your car with them as they normally undervalue all cars. If they say your wrecked car is worth 3k you could end up selling the whole thing for parts yourself and lets say make 5k, all in making 14k! then again it could end up less and your left with a crashed car shell on your driveway.
It depends on the figures and what you think yourself, hope it works out for ya :thumbsup:

cheers guys thanks, thats roughly what i thought! hopefully they give me about 13-14k, i can take the mods off before though and sell these for about 2 grand then maybe buy the car for parts from them for 2-3k and sell for 6-7k. 3SGE engine doesnt usually pop up second hand untouched! fingers crossed i come out of this on the plus side with more cash towards this:

Bad luck about the Altezza! - people say things happen for a reason ,,,, you won't know yourself in that Leggy , way more comfort , ( important when your as old as me) space and less interest from the rossers.
