This will help me get a Legacy quicker!! NOT!

Dan im just giving my opinion here now but are you sure u want a Legacy ?Dont get me wrong there a lovely looking car but subaru have cadburys pistons. The would melt in your mouth.Several of the lads have had them and every one of them had to get the engines rebuilt. They are ment to be fine standered but the very min you start looking for more power BANG it goes.Just giving you advice from anyone i knew who had one

Anyone know what they would be talking about? Just some advice someone told me on another forum. Would this be down to not getting a remap and using unleaded 95?

You hit the nail on the head there my friend!
Start a post on this forum asking how many of us (over 200 of us) have had a melted piston!!
It'll be a very short list and they will say that the cars were not mapped!
Treat your scooby with respect, Get her mapped to whatever state of tune you like, and then don't change anything! If you do further engine mods then tweek the map to suit, service it regularly and don't do rings!
And you'll have a fast, reliable classy motor for as long as you like!
Dan

whos doing all these rebuilds then? its a load of cock treated right its fine..the ej20 actually held the world endurance record for being run at high speed

"The original Legacy speed record was set between January 2 and January 21, 1989, with three Japanese-spec turbocharged RS sedans at the Arizona Test Center outside of Phoenix, Arizona. It broke the 100,000 km FIA World Land Endurance Record by maintaining an average speed of 138.780 mph (223.345 km/h) for 447 hours, 44 minutes and 9.887 seconds, or 18½ days. Pit stops were made every two hours with a driver change and refueling, while tire changes were made at 96 hour intervals, or every 13,400 miles (21,600 km) driven."

its mostly a case of nobs driving them..lads coming from civics, tegs etc who drive them to the redline..totally different power delivery you need to ring the neck out of a vtec and hit the limiter you do that it a scoob it will sh*t itself

cheers guys, proving hard to find a nice manual Legacy in the colour and spec i want, hopefully get one picked out soon and on the boat

We'll have 2 forester sti Dan's
2.5 all the way :headbanger:
Dan

LOL! Whats the differences between the SG5 and SG9 chassis? From the looks of it the SG9 is the STI version.

So the Forester STI is 265bhp from the factory. The Legacy BL5 is 276bhp? both manual versions im talking about. Anyone know the power output of the Auto Legacy?

SG5 is 2 litre 230 bhp and SG9 is the 2.5 litre 265bhp
The 2.5 with a panel filter good exhaust system and a remap will make 330-340 bhp and torque at 6000 rpm and 3000rpm respectively
And It's a very quick 330 bhp
This was when I had the above mods and with a sports cat!
And the bottom end will take up to 380bhp
Dan

The older auto B4 was 260bhp
I don't know about the newer one, Although I wouldn't let the specific output be a deciding factor! If you want an auto get an auto, like wise if you want a manual then get one of them! Either way she'll be savage!
And just so you know, the forester sti only comes in 6 speed manual!
Dan

Cheers for the info Dan, don't really fancy an auto but the way the auction are looking they are 98% auto's. I think ill leave the car standard power wise until i get used to it. first thing is a good panel filter, remap and blow off valve, and that should keep me happy for a few months! Might have found a nice one over here which i could get within the next 2 weeks if it works out ok
