Type-r Info

Great Choice Robbie, Type-Rs are one of a kind..

If I were you I would go ONLY for ver 5/6 though.
Better, mappable ECU,
Engine is more refined -You can recognise both for the location of coilpacks - in ver3/4 the coils are in the centre of manifold, in ver5/6 more to the right side.
Stronger gearbox casing (type 754 in oppose to weak 752 in ver 4 and earlier)
-They look better imo with the facelift and highrise wing in the back

I definitely think so Piotr, I'm dying to get into one. I've wanted one since I was a kid watching the rally's so now its my time

Didn't know that about the coilpacks, thanks for the heads up.. It'll make it very easy to tell the difference now

No prob Robbie

I was exactly the same about the WRC Impreza in 99/2000! I've been rallying in Renault Clio Williams then and Impreza was the best car any rally driver could dream about!
Since then buying a Type-R was my dream and 10 years later.. my dream came true :subaru:

Are you coming to the Southern meet maybe? I don't mind letting you testdrive my 99 ver5

Cheers for the offer, I might just take you up on it if i make it down. Might try to arrange looking at a few cars the same weekend

I see the difference now alright, the V5/6 manifold looks very similar to the one in my old B4 (except B4 one was silver) and in the newage cars too

Rob, I really liked the 97 v4 555 type r I had for a few weeks.
I would even say I preferred it to the 99.

I'd say buy the cleanest one in either year you want or can find.
Either a limited Etd or not, seats spoilers and roofvents can always be added on if the car is a gud one.
And theirs plenty to choose from so don't be in a panic to buy

You defo cant get a blob, i know you were saying to me before, its your favourite version.

If it was going to be an everyday car, then I'd get a blob.. But it'll be just for fun at the weekends and trackdays so the type-r suits much better :049:

You're dead right there, I'm in no rush to buy so will be going to look at anything that seems half decent. The blown engine idea seems most appealing to me because I'll be able to start fresh. Even though there are plenty out there saying freshly built engine, you still don't know what way they've been treated since the build :wall: ... A limited edition would be great and would be first choice given the chance but like you say, I'll be looking for the cleanest one around to start off with regardless of limited status  ... I'm going to go see a black one tomorrow I hope its nice

Nice looking car, is it mapped and by who?

Why did you change the blue limited seats for the newage ones?

What went in the engine that it required the rebuild?

Any interior or engine bay shots?

Robbie, I know of a 99 V limited that's coming up for sale. It's had 1 owner since it's import in 1997 with it only been driven the very odd weekend and gargaged always. It's totally standard and in stunning condition. He was looking for months and months when he purchased this one, it wasn't cheap ut he wnted the best one money could buy at the time with one key rule- It has to be the best.
Price will not be cheap as the car is mint and the owner isn't strapped for cash- just fancies something else to sit in his garage
I'll find out more and pm you his details

Cheers John  ... Hopefully top dollar isn't too top dollar   ... You mean it was imported in 2007 I assume?

robbie i didnt chat to my mate about that 99 v limited but i think its the same car john is talking about maybe he can shed more light on it for you

or this one dont no the car but it has a nice spec http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2099491

I could never see myself in that first one, interior is way OTT for me and there's no way I'd spend that money on it :icon_sad: ... V3 might be worth a call  , although 100,000miles and no mention of a rebuild makes me a bit wary of how long it will last :icon_sad:

looks like a nice v3 clocks are changed to mph mayb there isn 100,000 on the engine :dontknow: worth givin him a call nice spec on it 2

Hi Robbie,

Mine is hardly of interest for you? Genuine car and i can tell you every bit of history of it in Ireland as I am the only Irish driver owner since import. Mapped the week it was imported and mapped 4 times in total - Last time by Sti Tunning, the knock never goes above 16/18 at max boost. Still even has the jap tax disc and flare - I really do look after it - But I know alot of people do not like the Ver 3's with the low spoiler, old clocks and interior compared to the V5/V6's but it would stick with the best of them in all areas.
Have a think about it and if your interested give me a call.

Hey Paddy, been looking at your car alright, and to be honest I've been thinking about giving you a call to go and see it. I'm flat out for the next couple of days but I'll give you a buzz later in the week. What aftermarket turbo is on it and what sort of power do you expect its putting out? I can buzz out to you after work some evening as I work between Dundalk and Drogheda so not too far from ya i think

@James, just responded to your text mate, sorry didn't see your it earlier
