Wagon died today

Definitely man.And saved some fuel with it lying up for a few hours using her car for the day lol.Fingers crossed thats the end of it

I took the car for drive last night seems to be fine. :icon_rolleyes:
I looked up the part number for the map sensor , they are about $20 and then I need to get someone to solder it onto the board if it needs to be done in the future. The fact that the ecu recognised after a couple of failed startups when it broke down, that something was wrong and then used the throttle position sensor to get me home was pretty impressive as I thought they were a fairly basic ecu

Good to hear she is bak up and running pal...otherwse u could have been puttin dat civic bak on da road haha

lol too much paper work to put that on the road

I dont understand how a dry solder joint fixed itself, i wouldnt hold my breath on it not happening again if this is the problem

Either do I Ken to be honest im only posting what I was told it could have been the cause by someone that work on ecu's day in day out and said he has come across thing like this before, I wasnt stating a fact I have no idea what happened with it :dontknow:
As I said I'll be ordering the map sensor and is not expensive so happy days

I had similar issues with my Apexi FC. It kept not responding on several occasions and then after a while it fired up properly again.

Unfortunately after a few months it died completely.

Fingers crossed it won't happen with yours Baz..

Ah dont say that you'll jinx it

Its an old ecu , if it packs in I'll just deal with it if it happens

If you got someone good to check out the board for you and find the dry solder joint and fix it before it becomes an issue, it could save you possibly getting stranded somewhere

Good point

As far as i know they can be easy enough to spot as they are dull and not shiney..I would be just worried it may burn out another component thats not replaceable or worse again damage the board itself, maybe you man could have a look at it for you.

I'll give him a call tomorrow , I might be able to do it myself by just heating the joints with a soldering iron

any time ive ever been near anything with a dry joint, you cant really work with that old solder anymore, it needs to be removed and nice new shiney solder used.. very easy to over heat the Board aswell trying to remove it. Think i would get someone to look at it for me, be a c*nt to mess it up.

I'll give joe a shout so in that case, nice one

When you removed ecu from the car it probably cooled down and the board contracted. I use aerosols of Co2 to locate dry joints and i have tiny copper little croc clips to disspate heat and use a damp cloth as a heatsink. Its a modern board so it has surface mounted tech on it. I would bring it to a pro for soldering. Ecu reverting to trottle sensor very clever i like that.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
