What did you do to your car today?

Cheers lads... Just finished up only now. I got a right pain in my bollox with that f**king car.

Sump seems ok.. Holding fine and no more weeps.

The f**king sumps are stupidly low on them!! I'm surprised it hasn't been cracked before now tbh. Ive heard her crack it off a few speed ramps in the past and I gather that is what did it on Thursday when she was down in Wicklow town. I won't know till tomorrow when I fill it with oil if the engines alright. This is my second time to have the sump off it in 4 months. I pulled the strainer out of it before as it was clogged, dropping oil pressure and starving the head of oil. Nearly seized the bloody cam.

Fingers crossed for ya in the morning j . There a nice car its just things like that make ya hate them :facepalm

Thank f**k.. Audi is fine. Sumps fine .. Engine holding oil pressure and running smooth! The fecking thing has more than 9 life's. It's got 245k miles on it too!!

And it got a quick wash too... Along with me in the pissing rain. :wall:

 well done , out of interest how did you fix the crack ?

I bought a special loctite sealer Tommy. You can see below the hairline crack at the recess to where the oil level sensor sits... And another in the dent. I pulled the sump out as it wouldn't stop weeping in situ ... Then sanded the sump with a roloc disc and prepped it with isopropanol to degrease it and sealed it up with 3 individual layers.

Had I not been home bound with no transport I probably would have gotten my mate to alloy weld it... But apparently this sealer is the business and is perfect for sealing hairline cracks like that.

In fairness... It's a grand ol bus. Body and interior is great for such a high mileage car. They really stand the test of time compared to other brands. And she's never failed an NCT either.

replaced both rear top strut mounts which were making the infamous banging noise since i bought the car and upgraded to genuine STI Group N top mounts. banging noise gone and car feels much tighter, happy days

Where'd you get the group n top mounts? Did you do the fronts as well?

Rob, got them in scoobyparts, 234 sterling, can get slighty cheaper on ebay but have no experience of these traders and have had great service from scoobyparts over the years, delivered in 2 days

Got some Zaino stuff... as it's time to protect my shiny new paint lol. For the last 3 months I haven't been even washing it, all to avoid imposing any scratches, and let the paint cure properly.
