What did you do to your car today?

hi guys hope ye all had a great xmas, well this eve i said id do a few bits with the car since i havent touched a thing on it since i got it 3 weeks ago, first up was put on the 17" rotas i picked up yesterday, the not the 18" i wanted but they will do for now,

then i headed for the warmer garage, first up was the parking bulbs , omg what a bitch to do sweet lord above had to take out headlights to get new led bulbs in, is this normal guys ? have to say they look well

next up was the fog light bulbs both were blown another pain in the ass not as handy as the old classics to do, noticed the drivers side lense has small hole in it so will be looking for a new one soon but not to worried as im going to get the sti covers ,

going to give her a full clean inside and out 2mor

nice car , and yes bulbs are a pig to change , fog lights are fine once ya figure it out , but bulb in the headlight are just awkward to get at .

They are a pig but I found if you spanner off the top mounting bolts on headlight then pop out grill you can see a white locating bracket ratchet this off and headlight out in 3 mins easy peasy[emoji4]

I think she knows that its better for her own sanity if she stays out of there. She saw me heading up the stairs with the downpipe and wrap so I'd say she knows herself that I'll have left the place in a mess for now

Its just some generic heat wrap I got off eBay. Seller was playtime360 - same person I won the exhaust off. For a £8.99 with freepost to ParcelMotel I figured it was worth a punt :dontknow:

Well the last car I did it on did pop and spit flames a little more after which would suggest the gasses were keeping their temperature for longer which in theory means they move faster too.

Though in this application I'm kinda using it more to keep the engine temps and firewall temps down given the design and routing of the exhaust system.

as above the temps are kept lower

Why Use Exhaust Wraps?Using exhaust wrap can increase the performance of your engine.
Whether you are a racing specialist or simply an aficionado, our exhaust wrap can be useful to you. You will find here an explanation of how an exhaust wrap works and how it helps you increase the performance of your car or motorcycle engine.

The role of an exhaust wrap What the exhaust wrap really does is prevent your exhaust tubes to cool down. Therefore an exaust system equiped with the right set of wrap will keep the exhaust gases of your engine at a high temperature. Maintaining the exhaust gases at higher temperatures increases performance on several levels
When traveling at a higher speed in your wrapped exhaust system, the gases will increase the scavenging effect and improve the performance of the intake and exhaust systems as a whole. The exhaust gases are therefore removed faster from your motorcycle or car exhaust system when hot.

Exhaust wrap also improves the performance of the engine in general. Once again, the hot exhaust gases will be expulsed more quickly, leaving room for purer air in the combustion chamber. This will increase the quality of the air-fuel mixture and then improving the engine's performance. Check our wide range of product to find the right exhaust wrap that perfectly fit your needs.

Fitted 4 new tyres Swapped out the droplinks for whiteline and gave it a wash. Going to stick back on the cat and maybe try and test it before the map Save me doing it after .

Went with Dunlop sp sport In the end after a lot of though . Not impressed with the new Bridgestone re020 on the passat Side walls to soft compound too soft and the road noise is shocking and it's a very quite car. Be a change from the Goodyear Eagles see what there like .

I should nearly start a blog at this stage.

Mr Postman woke me early to deliver these ...

So no excuse anymore not to fit the intercooler I've had for nearly 3 months now.

Out with the old -

The hose coming from the turbo is a little compressed for my liking so might have to trim it for a better fit in time. There was NO way I was getting the blanking plug into the dump valve pipe, so after briefly considering running the standard valve I ended up re-using the standard pipe for now.

Anyone know where I might pick up a smaller diameter blanking plug from?

Grand saving of €88 over regular price and will hopefully see me get a better balance between DIY and paid maintenance.
