What did you do to your car today?

Keep thinking the same as you robbie but feck all out there to replace them with .

I'm just resigned to it been an occasional car and love it everytime it gets a run

At a certain point, you wonder why bother keeping it. I love the thing but then it sits there doing nothing because I'm not prepared to pour money into the petrol tank, tax and insurance and you can't drive it hard anywhere except the track now for fear of the license and that's a €4-500 day realistically.

I just don't get a buzz of excitement just tootling along the motorway in it. You give it the odd blip of trottle, its turns heads but that's it. Its amazing to drive hard but even on track, I hold back a bit for margin of error because its worth so much, emotionally and physically.

Does anyone else feel the same? Does it bother you having one as a daily driver but not really getting to push the car at all?

Popped in to check on the progress of the respray, she was out getting some sun. Slowly getting there, windows coming out on Monday, final sanding and prep work before the paint starts to go on. I should have it back next Friday

Still have my hawk, just started it and moved it around the yard to charge the battery and give her a hose down...
... miss her terribly as my daily... the grip, the sound, the power... my current daily is a 1.9tdi DSG Octavia... cheap to run and reasonably comfortable, but hardly puts a smile on your face like...

When I did drive the hawk as my daily... loved every minute of her... every 1 hour commute was a joy when in the hawk.

--- Robbie... what you need to do is move somewhere you CAN drive the spec C everyday --- properties in the Wicklow mountains still going cheap fella... new house = happy missus... and location = great roads and the only way to get full enjoyment on your daily run to work in the Spec C fella!

Same here rob . They are really hard to justify but the way I'm looking at mine is its parked up and paid for and it's not costing me a penny . I taxed her for the summer and it hasn't seen 200km in the time it's been taxed . But here's the thing . On the days I do take it out the feeling of power and acceleration throws all sensible thought out the window . I might be lucky in that I have some of the best driving roads in leinster a few minutes away and even keeping within the legal limit it still is an exciting drive . Get her out for a Weekend and fire a tank or 2 of petrol in it and use it just as quick . Nothing beats it

Have you not gotten around to fitting your splitter yet .

Will transform the front of the car .

Looking well all the same

Was looking at that the other day but the car is lowered and there is some crazy speed bumps around here that would rip it clean off. Pity really but you're right, it would look great. The roads in the west are the worst.

Would a WRC style high rise wing look crappy on an RX model?

Very hard to justify the insurance, tax ,nct min 1000/1500 for a few days during the summer Is great if you can but Its just not worth when it's a second or third car . Have the legacy on a classic policy now but otherwise would be parked up as it was 700 quid for 10/15 days a year , on classic policy 250 which is perfect

Don't look lowered in them pics fella .

Splitter would survive no bother I'd reckon .

And yes wrc spoiler would look terrible . Look like a book shelf on the boot .

Sti spoiler is much tidier

Rob C.

I fully fully understand where you a coming from.

We as a Subaru Community are getting older

Mast majority are not driving daily.

So yes agree with your view.

So your own plans on how when where why to drive then with related costs is the question. And then that also masked with the value of car part time value

Build garage and leave parked up if you can If not then have to weigh up costs of storage and deprecation from then your going to drive it again hard call to make

I do have an Eibach Pro kit to hand alright, I'll fit the lip after meet and see, working all day tomorrow. Was thinking the WRC would be a tad too much, touching on the rice side of things.

That's why I suggested the Eibach before didn't think she was lowered springs will make it look 100% nicer as will splitter mine never hits off ground and she'd be lower again than a Rx on Eibach just need to be aware splitter is there when parking or turning on a country road ect

What did you do bout the water ingress and damage resulting?..

Thanks lads, got the boot sorted, took off the seal and wiped the silicone off, put a new seal on and new silicone. Did a tidy job on it and it's as dry as a bone. Glad I kept at it

Fit one of them ks-3 knock sensors great bit of kit
Want to see what sort of knock I'm getting with and without booster and a few other things.
I'll report back over the next few weeks.

rob , i also hear ye, about not being able to use it without the fear of seeing those blue flashing lights , realisticly the potential of the car is not fully usable as a daily driver or we'd all be locked up . BUT those squirt's and the general instant excitment it can generate are the reason we love them so much . as the lads said not much out there that ticks all the boxes and your lucky enough to have a really special example . also agree with dave about the getting older bit , as iv noticed myself not wanting any noise out of it at all as so it is usable without informing have the county with that specific exhaust note that most will know its you , so iv opted temperarily for a bung and its worked a treat so far .

ps , great job on the two black impreza's keith , both lookin very well

Cheers Ross. It's tough to keep a black car good. One bad wash and your back to one horrible car in any sunlight. I Used a new product I bought from the 50 cal range and looking forward to see how it performs.

Few bits still needed to do on mine which I hope to sort over the next month or two.

Minor swirls from when I got the work done in the paint shop from the hand over wash they did on it.
Drivers side side skirt needs to be replaced as one of the clips are broke since I bought it so does not sit right.
The dents around the car I keep going to get done but keep getting new ones every week in work so it's so off putting to get them done to have it happen again to it.
