What did you do to your car today?

Started today into a serious paint correction on my hatch, going to spend 100 hours plus on her to really have it gleaming for the teranure show, here is a couple of pics of the drivers side wing I done today, and the front rim clay barred polished waxed and sealed, and just to see what hollowgrams are in it I took a before and after pic with the swirl torch should look showroom when she is finished.

Jesus tom you will have it down to the primer when your finished!!! Serious cleaning, car looks better than new.

looks very well, i need it done too. one thought though. how thick is the paint on a subaru, how many goes do you get before your lacker is gone? i know it will depend on how much you take off each time. but is it viable for a daily driver thats out in crappy gritty weather?

Began wet sanding the headlights on the audi. Good bit left to do before I'm happy with them but got rid of the majority of cloudiness. Massive thanks to Ian in Elite Auto Clean who managed to strip off the stupid black paint the previous owner put on all the exterior chrome trim. No chemical damage to any panel paint work and no damage to the chrome trim underneath.

Be very very careful doing that man, it's all very well and good watching these videos on you tube but
They don't tell you it's special sanding paper for the job and they don't tell you that if you don't seall them right after that they will go back as bad if not worse after,as most of the lads on here know i own headlight restoration Portlaoise and we repair at least 2 sets every single week were people are after trying to fix there lights after you tube with tooth paste, vinegar, household scowring pads, the works so Just be very very carefull man

Averages from about 80-150microns. 80 in door shuts, etc, 150 or so on exterior panels. You could lightly wetsand specific problem areas with 2k paper but the paint is really soft so only requires a light polish to remove general swirls. You could finish it off with a refining polish too and have a 95% finish by only removing 1-2 microns. No point going any further with a daily as you can't avoid swirls, only minimise them.

Plus you'll be hugging the ditches so you'll need the extra layers to remove marks from rogue twigs and branches sticking out onto the road, haha:))

I've all the stuff there if you want to borrow it including a micrometer to measure the thickness of the paint.

Definitely. They're in tatters anyway so I said I'd have a go and if I mess them up I'll replace them with some from a breakers. I'm using a soft sanding block and waterproof paper yesterday. Just took my time and plenty of water and majority of cloudiness is gone from them. Off again on Wednesday so I'll go at them with a finer grit to finish them off and then seal them up.

Popped into paint shop to see how the job is going. Getting there. slowly but surely!

passenger side dinks and dents filled and smoothed and sanded

Wings and bumper removed, Bonnet being sanded and dents fixed etc

Drivers side was being started when i was there. Still another good week or two in it me thinks
