Where's everyone buying there petrol these days?

:icon_grin:some post John  I didn't read all of it but would it be safe to say if your getting your car mapped use the worst fuel possible and then you can't go wrong where you fill up :dontknow:

Map on Esso and use Texaco or Esso on refills would be my personal choice. While the petrol quality is dire and uncertain overall, the problem is classic ECU's not being able to retard timing when knock is detected.

Getting mapped on a poor quality fuel is good in a longevity mind but there's a lot of waste. It'd run safer but wont get the most of it due to timing being retarded when it could have been advanced.

Remap with quality fuel and a knock link and keep a bottle of NF in the boot and throw a quarter in if you ever get a bad tank of fuel.

Didn't check Shell but I think they use Esso's tank aswell.

:thumbsup:new Alcatek update can pull timing before could only. Flash check engine light I think . But ye Esso or texaco

This turned into a super thread lads

General consensus Esso / Texico I'm happy with that it's all mines got since remapped for 95 last year

Yep no Fooking around with booster

The other week I had a couple of back fires on over run after using apple green thought it was a bit strange

What would cause that?

I tried 30 quid from empty out of maxol, normal driving and didnt last very long at all

I don't know being honest .

I find maxol is ok for milage but esso is slightly better

I had the same Baz about 2 weeks ago in the A6. Tank of Apple in it and putting the foot down even on an even surface it was bogging and hesitating. Especially in 4th and 5th. Dropping gears all the time. Tank of Texaco in it now and flying again. Full boost coming in smooth just after 2k and holding up the revs. Could also literally see the fuel gauge dropping in real time on the motorway with the apple in it. Near 400 miles to a tank with Texaco in it on mixed driving with majority secondary roads 60-80kmh.

I was chatting a fella who drives tankers, he was saying that apllegreen and I think esso draw straight from docks to pumps, he said most of the others put their own additives into the fuel before it gets to pumps.
I go to applegreen

Interesting. I was allways getting fuel in a very Topaz, but the other day I filled up in Applegreens. Car feels better and I think I am getting better Mpg. It might be placebo effect, but I couls swear that Scooby runs beter on Applegreens petrol.

one thing that doesnt really add up to the applegreen petrol is the pricing, they are 146,8 at my place... dunno how legit it is being the cheapest around and still deliver high quality petrol...

well bit of a thread revival here ,

as there was alot of people recommending Esso fuels i said id try it out , after a good 4 to 5 years of nothing but maxol i must admit the Esso is or at least seems to be as good if not better than the maxol , brimmed her leaving for dublin this morning done a bit of driving from place to place and back home from dublin , there seems to be something to it , defo got more left in the tank getting home and car pulled just as well as ever , plus there was a definate increase in popping and banging on downshifts ,

im going to keep using the esso for a few weeks and see what kinda mpg im getting and see if it really is any better or see is the difference i noticed today just in my head .

Agree with you Tommy I have tried apple green topaz maxol and none of them had as good an effect on the car.
The maxol and topaz drove grand but poor mileage apple green was terrible(I'm not gona blame any of them as my car is mapped for E5 and NF)but I definitely notice a difference with Esso more power more mileage and smooth low speed driving.
