Advice on what to do (bodyshop)

Great to see progress and hoping you get it back soon.

Re engine - 2.1 stroker kit with a Garrett turbo. Can't go wrong there 😁

TD05 20G already bought. Toying with the idea of a stoker or just keep it 2 litre. Not sure yet.

Difference in price between a 2L and a stroker is not huge. I would highly recommend a stroker having had a stock EJ207. It sounds different and it goes like snell! without any of the drawbacks of a 2.5L. Good fueling/exhaust/air in coupled with someone who really knows how to map them and it will be a reliable workhorse.

If the right spec they can be good and reliable
You have to put too much money into them to get them semi reliable and they are not worth it. Leave them to the yanks to get the one or 2 runs on the rolling road for a big figure print out

My one hasn’t been opened in 7 years so I’d have to respectfully disagree 👍🏻

not sure what your hearing but there’s no sound difference between a 2.0 And a 2.1 it’s just a 2.5 crank with shorter rods So makes a longer stroke unless I’m deaf ( which I am 😂) but Iv never heard a difference All to do with headers and exhaust

I'll stick to my ears lol(I have a huge thing for sound/sound systems etc) and hold to the idea that a built 2.1 motor sounds very different to a stock EJ 207. I had recorded the sound on both of my engine setups and they, to me anyways sounds different.

Only 1 way Joe for you to find out... You have to drive my car next 😉

I know exactly what you mean Hassen and it’s not imagination 🤣
They do Rev different and not everyone can pick it up , the overall sound is the same but you can tell the engine rpm picks up differently, the mechanical sound is definitely different

And..is that cause of the stroker kit itself or...? Genuinely curious...would that mean a 2.5 should sound different to a 2.0 then also? Can't say I've ever picked up on it myself either but I've possibly been deafened by the exhaust sounds too lol

Equal vs unequal headers i reckons .

Sorted 2.5 for the torque '
Baz and luke being first to mind

So, it wasn't just my imagination. And yes, it's the way the revs build up and there is a different noise from the engine. A bit like a higher frenquency pitched noise that gets louder as the revs build up. It's definitely a subtle difference but I swear I could hear it after having heard so many engines, stock vs built vs stroked etc.

UPDATE AUG 2nd 2023

I got sent some WhatsApp pictures today of some more progress. Underside protected for many more years to come hopefully.

Very nice , did he go to bare metal?
Not 100% bare metal but wire brushed down a bit. I'll attach a picture. It was pretty clean and in good condition underneath surprisingly.
