Hi Guys had a chat with a chap named Mark Woods and very helpful the jist of things is all Maxol unleaded is ran to a European directive called EN 228 and he also said all Maxol unleaded is 95 octane now if any of you lads would like to follow up on this you can get him at head office and can anybody tell me what EN 228 means and if my car is mapped to run on E5 should I start using an octane booster cheers

so many guys got remaps for E5, well that didnt stay around for lng and to be honest i personally think everyone should just map for the 95 and save alot of hassle and money in the long run! boosters aren't cheap either.

Interesting now for lads already mapped on E5. Did he happen to state when the changeover occurred as it will be helpful for some lads to determine whether the need to remap or not?

It's been like this a long while now and I've been saying it. The Maxol in Ratoath never had E5. The Maxol in Navan Rd had half it's pumps on E5 and half on 95. When the big rebrand came along and none of the pumps had E5 on them, I asked one of the attendants in Navan Rd had E5 been discontinued and he said no, that all the pumps were now E5. I was noticing the car wasn't running full tilt with every fill at Maxol. When Ratoath had their rebrand I asked were they now doing all E5 and they said no, all pumps are still 95.

Anyone mapped for E5, use Applegreen or Octane booster and contact your mapper.

Im getting my car remaped soon and will go back to 95 this E5 uncertainty is getting on my t $#s...

might be e5 but not 99, ill be getting map adjusted for 95 when i make anymore changes, its not worth the hassle, last time i was getting mine mapped anyway Joe said the E5 was gone to shite so its probably very close to a 95 map anyway!

Not E5 but it has a measure of ethanol in it. IMO I've found Texaco with a half bottle of booster per tank is the best.

My opinion is their liars the guy on the phone said about 6 weeks ago E5 was gone, but I would take that with a pinch of salt he was all about the environment and E5 wasn't made for tuners, all that sh*t but can anybody tell me have I being damaging my car while I thought I was using E5 thanks and where can I get NF Booster in a hurry cheers. :angry1: :angry1: :angry1:

I know this...

I'm asking why would people pigeon hole themselves when they could have gone for a 'reg 95 fill up anywhere' remap?

I was advised it was safer to map for the feckin thing anyway booster on the way and e mail sent to Bob lesson learned.

I found apple to be pretty much the same as e5,

coming back from scoobfest i had to get some juice at apple on the M1 so i stuck in €20 to get me home or until next maxol fill, it got me to rathnew  where i had to stick some more in to get me by,

now there was times where i had to get a splash and dash at maybe topaz or esso, as soon as i would pull out of the forecourt onto the main road and give it a little boost the check engine light would start flashing to let me know it didn't like that fuel, but when i filled up at apple i never had a problem

I only got my car mapped 8 weeks ago by Bob, for E5, so I presume that was only "95" ron, that tells me
That I can use applegreen from now on, does that sound right ??, as the fuel that Bob mapped the car for would
Have been 95 ron.
