farmer and dogs

Thanks, that's clear now. If My dog gets Out of the garden somehow She'll be killed regardless of doing anything wrong or not.
Is there any law how to store a gun properly or it isn't considered as dangerous as the small dog above ?

This is not the dogs fault its the owners ,they are the ones not being responsible or capable of looking after their dog , the dog is only doing what comes natural to it , simple if the farmers bull broke into your garden and killed your dog would this be acceptable? , a dog is a animal that you have chosen to become a pet and until we can communicate with dogs to tell them right from wrong they are they are the same as any other animal ,i am very fond of dogs and all animals and understand what a great friend a dog can become ,but that's not the issue here

No one is saying to shot your dog ,but if it's seen the field do you think this is acceptable ?
If you can't tell a dog not to go in to the field ,how will you tell it not chase the sheep?
Don't take my comments personally ,I think the same of everyones dog

Farmer 100% in the right. The dog doesnt need to be of any size to kill sheep. Sheep are naturally afraid of dogs so will run and run until exhaused to the extent that they suffer heart attack. Even tho the dog may thing it is playing, the sheep dont see it that way.

I know what You mean and You are absolutely right about the responsibility of the dogs owner.
What makes Me worried is if the dog is on the field (say IF) it is enough reason to shoot.

The thing that concerned me the most is that his gun was left in an open van with ammo. What if a child found it. A dog been shot or a sheep be kill would look like nothing if a child blow his head off. Cos he found that gun and was playing with it.

He can be reported for that alone.

were going off topic here

yes the farmer (by law) shouldnt have there gun on there front seat but

a dog just killed there live stock

im a city boy and i still know this, there's no agrument here, dogs shouldnot be off the lead, anywere!

maybe he was going back to pick up his DEAD sheep

He never said da pic was taken after da dog was shot. It was a random time when he went to talk to him.
Either way guns shouldn't be left in a open van. But if it was my gun I don't think I could live with myself if a child just happened to find dat gun and something bad happened. Private land or not. As well all know that didn't stop us when we were kids.

Very true duff man , city or country boy I think most people understand but when someone suggests that their dog can be a killer then they don't want to believe it
I would be pissed if someone was in my yard taking pictures ,he might need a sign up there to about tresspassers ,

:snooty:The original post didn't say anything about the gun being issue , so this is going off topic ,the problem I thought was about the wee dog chasing/ not chasing sheep
Some posters even suggested shooting the farmer!!
Get a grip of yourselves here ,
If you don't want your dog shot dont let it in the mans field ,if you can't control your dog get rid of it ,to some one who can

Lads I really can't see how this topic is still being discussed. Farmer was 100% right to shoot the dog. No question about it. Dogs should not be let run loose ESP on other peoples property. You can't expect a farmer to not do what he done. I wud make sure ur dog Is well locked into ur house just incase it meets the same faith. U obviously value ur dog dearly. Just my 2 pense worth.

i had no issue with the dog been shot, its the gun - only becos i know someone who's child dead cos he found a gun and shot himself playing with it. so thats why i was touchy on it...sorry

Picture probably didn't make it clear but I wasn't on His yard! The van was parked beside the road at the gate. I mentioned in the post the dog was shot two days ago so He didn't go for the dead sheep. There is no livestock on the field at the moment.
I know He Had the right by Law I was angry because He could sort the problem on a different way .
