hello, need info on subaru please.

that silver blob sl looks well, my brother has a 05 wrx sl and the heated leather front seats are the job in winter,
the sunroof is a plus too especially with the savage weather were having lately :049:

i am still here lads, i did not ran away, then again little bit of drama never scared me away ;) super busy at work, i am tired like a dog, but now i am off for next 4 days! :icon_headbang:. Tomorrow i have to go to dublin, sort out crap in embassy. have to take my puppy too as house owner will be doing some work inside, while we gone.

anyway, i am scaning donedeal all the time and the only car that was added recently was this:

http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3198797

looks clean, but very short nct and when people sell car with low nct i get second thoughts.. then again add silver color to it too ( looks not bad thought ). i called on R32 yesterday too, but nothing good, wont even bother looking at it. high price for a car that is claimed to have 290hp, only because he knows fella with same mods on his r32... :cuckoo:

Honestly mate, if you are after a WR Blue Impreza, then hold out for it and one will pop up. I assume you're after it for the iconic rally look and if so, if you go silver or any other colours you'll just never be happy. Take your own advise and do it right first time.

The only reason I'd consider a different colour in your position, is if you wanted a wrx just to tide you over until you could pick up a WR blue STI to replace it.

But even that, I'd advise not to do as you'll only end up wasting money because you'll lose money on the wrx no matter what you pay for it, there's not much difference in the price of an sti to a wrx in the years you're looking at so I'd get an sti all day long if i was you

well since i was a young lad i wanted 2 cars: skyline and impreza. I owned skyline and loved it! its a shame ireland is not spots car friendly... it was lovely 4 door 400hp monster ( proven ), but i had to put it off road for a year ( runing cost were brutal and misses and me were buying a house ), and in the end it would had costed me more to bring it back up for nct, then buying another r33 with nct and tax... ( way too much mods and and crap for nct ). I sold it the way it was, took my losses and moved on. :(
Like i said, i am picky pri*k this time, i am looking for something nice, because i drive a 500eu worth ford for 1++ year. great car, after driving one year i bough side mirror and a set of wipers. it passed nct again! . The problem is when you are a petrolhead, driving a piece of shiet mondeo is a torture, cheap, but it destroys all selfrespect :(. i gave my mx5 to misses too, i want her to enjoy summer time!
amyway, i camedown to WRX/STI. I LOVE blue+yellow wheels combo on subarus. like you said, it is iconic look. though i dont mind white or black too, because those look lovely with gold wheels! Boxer engine sound makes me "jizz in my pants" too :D. then again my budget is only 7.5k and for that money i can get only some high power FWD stuff. i was considering OPC or 3 MPS, but so much power in front makes them both useless on road :(.

if your in or around cork city i can get my brothers wr blue wrx blob sl and you can have a good look at one up close and ill even bring ya for a bit of a blast.....
it wouldnt be until after the weekend though.....

Did a quick donedeal search and found these 3, all would come in within your €7.5k budget

06 WRX - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2817042 - Although wheels look like they've seen better days so throw a new set and it would go above budget.

02 Prodrive Bug STI - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3180266 - This car was actually owned by 2 members of the ISDC, Eric there had it for a good while too. You could probably squeeze this for €5k or under if you pushed it but it would leave you with over €2k to spend either way on any little things you find that you think need to be addressed. And its an sti.

Or if you think about it, you're not too far off being able to do a deal on this if you increased your budget a bit: https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/28489/ .. Although I know its silver, there is also this: https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/29435/ .. I know they're out of your budget but they are just examples of where you could go with your money. If you bought a 2001 wrx and spent 4k transforming it to your liking, it'd probably be still only be worth the same or less than you'd paid for it..

Thx Johny T, but i have already sat in one. even shaked hand on it, but then seller called me half way home saying: "your mechanic is very fussy. agreed price+300eu, take it or leave it. " needless to say i told him to BYE BYE! It was a wasted trip, but now i know i really like impreza! :)

Sweetcakes: all those 2.5 wrx are a no go. i am not going back to 2.5 tax. i know petrol wont be that much different from 2.0, but still, its an extra expense. add my dislike to that shape too! ;)

that pro drive droped in price since i checked the ad. problem is - he is on other side of the country! very short nct ( reason for sale? issues with car? :ponder2: ). Going so far i will need to arrange my mechanic way in advance. I need to make sure it is really good, before i will go 400km for it. Last time i offered fella to meet half way, he got insulted and just said " i never meet half way, bye bye"... and that was on car website where i am not a new member with 5 posts... :cuckoo: . reason i asked him to meet half way: i am in cork, he is donegal...

someone said that that car was one of the members here?

yup both John M and eric owned that bug eye , lovely car and both them lads know how to mind a scooby ,

In fairness, i wouldnt blame the guy for telling you he wouldnt meet you half way, i wouldnt either...
Number 1 its too much of a risk being Robbed, No.2 you could be a messer and not show up,
No.3 you could show up and because he has driven half the way he will have someone follow him in another car to bring him home, and you then could not buy because of something stupid or try haggle something stupid..

That Silver Blob Sti is fukn Depresingly cheap, anyone that owns a Blob cringe when they see the likes of it at that price. and silver is nice in them aswell.

Im sorry if this is ignorent to WRX owners but, end of day, the Sti now being so cheap has priced them out of the market. The STI is just a different car alltogether end of story, Difference is night and day.
As an old car dealer friend of mine always said about sports cars, if your going to buy a Bear, Then buy a Grizzly. :)

Only reason i can see someone buying a Wrx is for insurance reasons, and as far as i know the UK STI is not much extra than a WRX.

I would advise you an STI of some sort.

Prodrive Bugs are the only Bugeye i would consider, as i just dont like the Standard Bug STI front end, and after owning one i can safely say, its as close to the look of a WRC car you will get.

Be a bit more open minded about NCTs being out, the car could be perfect and owner just hasnt the time, interest or money etc etc.. it may be that there is a Decat on the car and owner hasnt the original to go through test and its a big issue to him, where to us because we are members on here its an easy fix and is only a case of asking for a loan of a cat for test and someone will sort you out..

Just bare it in mind, No nct or short Nct may be a perfect car, and your mechanic will see if theres any issues

i still havent given him offer. ( it was done all in PMs, did not even got that far... ). I was willing to pay full price for car as knew it was good, i missed by few hours on buying it, when it was going from other member of forum. When i was buying my skyline i asked seller to come over to my town as my friends/mechanics workshop is there. i promised him 20eu on petrol no matter if i buy or not. He came over and before even looking at the car i gave him 20 quid. I am not sh*t paddler. If i make an offer i stand behind it. I agree on being dodgy, but it is more dodgy on my side as buyer then on sellers. i can lose all my money, because it wont be a seller, but a few thugs. wheres what i can do to seller?! he will still have his log book, even if i steal his car, wtf will i do with it with no log book? steal it and break it? well cool, but then everyone so my face... keep in mind i would arrange meeting in some busy place in the midle of daylight myself to be safe.

as for NCT, i know very well that NCT is not a sign of perfect car, trust me, i know that for a fact. Last scooby i checked had fresh 2 year nct with almost completely rusted off brake lines, 2 tyres destroyed due to bad alignment, leaky shock, and my favorite - silicon instead of bushing in the rear suspension. Long nct is just an advantage for me, so i dont need to bother with nct centre and that car can pass nct in current state. i have already burned with high modified cars, which cant pass nct after. i agree with you 100% NCT is NOT a sign of good car at all, but no nct with usual excuse "i dont have time to do it" is bullshit. It takes 2-3 hours out of your day ( considering how far test centre is ) and 50 quid. I would buy a car with no nct, but with a sheet which will show what it failed on, then " OH LAD SHE IS MINT AS NUNS FANNY! I JUST HAVE NO TIME TO GET TO NCT CENTRE! "!

I think i will narrow my search down to STI. ( or very nice clean WRX ). thanks for all the tips btw!

question still stands on that silver STI, it has this clubs tax holders, so bound to be one of your cars lads.

well lads, thanks for all the help! you were the best bunch out there! i finally got a subaru! :icon_pidu:

Next week i will sort out membership too, today i am just too tired, a very long day! :smokin:
