Naughty Naughty

Shocking stuff, I think this hole event is going to change two things.

1, SC will and should go out of business

2, every body that values there car should have a dash cam.

Well, as you can see above(first page) it is illegal to have dashcam while car is being in service unless your mechanic knows about it. And he may just refuse to service your car if its there.

I believe it comes to different stuff. You do not want to have your burger or steak spat on? Well, behave nicely and give the staff no reason for doing it.

You want your car being serviced well? Well, deal with the mechanic with respect, show him respect and he will respect you back.

no need for dash cams

just have a good mechanic
i learnt that years ago
its very important to have good
1. mechanic
2. gp
3. solicitor
order depending in wich situation your in at the time obviously

The fact that an attempt was made to wipe the footage by the mechanic is evidence enough that he knew the camera was there and that he knew he shouldn't have driven the car the way he did .

Arrogant doesn't come close to the attitude of the company owner

It seems to be just getting worse as the days go on...

Kev had no control over what his guys did at that point in time in that car... However control was given back to him once it was brought to his attention..

Posting about the customer, saying he was weird etc etc is just not appropriate, posting saying that the guys were trying to avoid the pot holes and doing 19mph... Now his 15yr long employee has resigned...Well I just can't make sense of it.

It's very possible at this stage that the owners/managers reaction to the incident is going to do more damage to the business than the video itself.
It now would seem that nothing is seen wrong with what was in video and that it's acceptable and not punishable..

He should of took it on the chin, apologised, sacked the 2 employees and set the example that this behaviour is not tolerated at SC.

Read it all, on few forums.
The video made me cringe,
Way too fast.
Where i'm from, we have some roads like that and you would be nearly at a stand still crawling through the potholes.

If it was my car i would feel sick after seeing it.
Last pot hole before yard, ya can see the vibration through the car.

Very bad response from the owner, does not deserve any ones future business with that attitude.

Well that clears it up for sc they don't give a toss and think the driver tries to avoid the pot holes. Shocking response for the owner of a highly rated business to everyone not just 1 customer

I didn't see were it says it's illegal to have a dash cam when servicing, can you link it to me if you don't mind?

In this case, do you think this guy disrespected his mechanic??

99.9% of people work under cameras these days... I don't know why it's deemed disrespectful for mechanics? If your not doing anything wrong what's the problem? I would have no problem working at a car with dash cam?? Granted they might get the unsightly view of the crack of my Arse showing but what can you do lol

it cannot be illegal to video tape in your own property wich the car is
I would personally agree with Dave where it is a Violation of Privacy to a certain degree
i wouldnt like to be filmed so in turn i wouldnt film someone else

Cant see an issue once agreed in advance.

You relate a personal conversation about cancer/ relationship break up etc

No one has that right.

Again its a trust issue

I would guarantee most in private office jobs would strike if cams were put at their desks. So every second of their day was detected. Likes of 30 second check on facebook

I would a whole new issue re privacy would arise

there also is a difference in my view in being recorded in work and the tape recorded over etc.
and a dash cam or private recording ending up who knows where
it is more a privacy violation and will have to have law created for down the line id say

yep agree with all

Cant see an issue once agreed in advance.

"A Main dealer charged me € xxx and me mate said bollix id do it in ten mins for €5

Past all that. I have a conversation with my guys

All agreed its insane. And zero excuse.

As a minimum

The passenger should have said.

STOP! You are in wrong

Treat othes as your would like to be treated. And that goes for cars too.

Its not that hard

I'm finding it hard to understand the above post.

In this case it's fair to say there is no WIN situation... But there was a chance at doing some serious damage control, and whether it's arrogance or ignorance or a mixture of both, SC has failed miserably, sacking the 2 employees and apologising would have removed the problem and fixed the issue.... Saying you see nothing wrong in the video shows that the problem hasn't been removed and that it lies in Managment and from the top to the bottom level of employee..

state of the lane : terrible
clunks as potholes were hit : painful
respect given to car :disgraceful
way customer dealt with this situation : foolish
initial response from SC before vid was realeased : seemed legit but at same time slightly offenseve
vid realeased and totally discredits SC version imo
second response from SC : possibly as damaging as incident itself and total wrong attitude imo
feel for other employee's but management has not helped in this situation and how badly publicy dealt with it was .

if you cant trust your mechanic ,that you have to record him .....espicially with our "rally bred cars " rather than a corolla,fiesta......

agree re privacy ,but in this case his suspicion was justified .as it was his first time there ,he possibly wanted to scope them to make up his own mind , as who knows what goes on behind closed doors . but should have been stated/agreed to avoid any future issue. i considered it a sneaky move

Under Irish law, it is not illegal for a person to record a call if he/she is party to that call. However, under the Postal Packets and Telecommunications Messages (Regulation) Act 1993, recording a phone conversation between other people without their authorisation amounts to interception – a serious criminal offence. Mar 27, 2014

Now, this is about phone conversation, but I was under the impression, that this could be carried forward into any situation really. Now as far as I am aware, you should notify the party that you are recording - whether sound or video - that this party is being recorded.

However the whole article is here: http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/1989/act/22/enacted/en/print#sec11 feel free to read through it and try to understand what it says, but its above my English and Law knowledge. I was just coming out of what Dave as a mechanic said, and I dont blame him. I deffo wouldnt be happy to have camera behind my back while working.
