New fuel from Maxol (not E85)

Was talking to pat (mapper) yesterday and he reckons it'll be safe to run it

If it is what they say it is of course, I cant see Maxol bringing out a fuel that can only be used in some cars but I wonder will it really be 99ron. If it is the b4's will be alot happier mapped for it.

Ive been to two Maxol garages over the weekend and neither had it.

Renno - it really can be 99RON - because of specific property of ethanol. Relatively small addition of ethanol to petrol make it (ethanol) acting as it has about 116RON. And it's probably not the only additive to petrol.
Anyway - if no e5 around you - really you can try out mix with E85 with correct ratio.

Cheers

Thanks Rude Boy. It will have to be E5 and widely available in order to map for it. I went to two Local Maxol garages but none.

Its being dumped into existing tanks in Maxol stations according to a Maxol garage owner I've been chatting with in Navan. If thats the case they could have it at the moment and not be aware of it

jus back from flower hill maxol navan , didnt have it said early next month,  im strung out on the stuff and i havent even had any yet,

I think that might well be the case, but when I enquired at my local Maxol garage in Kilrush today, I found I was telling them about it there too, though the mechanics were vaguely aware that it was coming out sometime in the future.

... if they thought it was dodgy at all they would have disclaimers all over the place!

Isn't that what the "can be used by drivers of standard petrol powered vehicles" bit is at least partly about; what exactly is or (more importantly) isn't a "standard petrol powered vehicle"?  :dunno: It's vague enough to get them off the hook ...

We wer onto maxol in the IrishMOC and they said that it will be in all Maxol garages country wide by the end of the first week in October. It will be labled E5 and it is 99.2 and it will be sold at the same price as normal 95 octane petrol. Just fire it in lads it will only make ya go faster. Us in the Evo's just have to disconnect are battry's let the ECU reset itself back to jap spec, takes about 25 seconds. reconnect the battery and away we go. Vrrrrooooooooooooom Vrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmm

You remind me of a story I came across when I was googling "ethanol" a few days ago, about some marines in the Korean War who spotted a pallet of ethanol drums at the depot where they were collecting fuel, so they "liberated" one and smuggled it out with the others. Apparently it went down very well mixed with grapefruit juice! (Well it is alcohol!   :drunk:)

DO NOT MIX E85 WITH NORMAL PETROL FROM MAXOL STATIONS!!!!!!!
If your local maxol doesn't have E5 yet (writen on the pumps) It may unofficailly have it in the tanks so mixing maxol E85 with possibly E5 would give you approx 10% ethinol blend!!
and just to be more specific you need to add 3 itres of maxol E85 to 47 litres of any other brand 95 ron petrol to give you perfect 5% mix!
E85 is available in maxol manooth and crumlin across from the super market! so a 10 litre gerry can will do you 3 tankfulls when mixed!

so does anyone have a verdict on this fuel yet, does it make a difference

Ive been onto Maxol and they told me that all there staff will be aware of the fuel and the pumps should be getting the red stickers anyday. There still not on the Local Maxol here though. So it may only be available in some stations and not in others.

The red stickers is for the e85 stuff not the e5.

Right well I was told the other day in the below mail that the red E5 labels where going on the unleaded pumps. So I just assumed they knew what colour label they where going to use. Obvously not.

"I have spoken with the Area Manager for Brennan’s Newbridge and he will contact the Manager and ensure they inform all staff that they are supplying the product.

"With regard to the E5 labeling this has taken place and I am just awaiting confirmation from the Area Manager as there should now to red E5 labels on the unleaded pumps.

We appreciate your comments and I will follow up with the Area Manager later this morning.

Should you have any query please do not hesitate to contact us."

Kind regards

Sue McIntyre

not sure about the labels but the maxol in Navan has the normal unleaded sticker with a sticker saying "Contains 5% bioethanol" on it

Maxol stations at the crossings in Naas and Sallins road Naas both have E5 With standard green labels with "contains 5% bioethenol" in small writing up along the right hand side of were it says "unleaded" the labeling is very discreet!

Can't do any harm!!
But needs to be mapped to suit to get the best results!
And now that b4's can be mapped you're sorted!( Davelegacy )                                           We'll have another good dice around mondello

i heard something shity about that fuel today .. i,m in the petroleum business.. water in tanks happens often and normally settles at the bottom so its easy for us service engineers to pump it out , however ! i here water mixes with this new fuel so anybody with older tanks in the ground mite have water in them its goin to be fun . my advice is to buy it from filling stations that are only a couple of years old.
