[h=1]Goodwood to host special rally sprint event featuring famous WRC cars[/h]
https://www.autosport.com/historics...bgvv-OUbiAKzaWUEcJv8Vyxe9tmIDx6Q9Eyn6Uz7X5vWw

Rally cars from the Group 4, Group B and World Rally eras will take part in a spectacular rally sprint at the 2020 Goodwood Members' Meeting.
WRC stars - including 1984 champion Stig Blomqvist, 2003 title winner Petter Solberg and co-driving ace Nicky Grist - will top the bill of a host of drivers and cars taking part in the occasion, which will take place on the evening of March 28.
Once the day's racing has finished at Goodwood a special stage will be run between the pits and Lavant corner.
The asphalt stage will start with a blast through the circuit's vehicle tunnel, take in the chicane and a dash through the pit road.
As well as the WRC stars, five-time British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae will take the wheel of his Group 4 Vauxhall Chevette HSR.
Grist will drive his own Group A Toyota Celica GT-Four, and cars from Audi, Lancia and Subaru are expected to take part.
Jen Godding, general manager of the Goodwood Members' Meeting, said: "The route of the Rally Sprint has been designed to maximise the opportunities for spectators to revel in the sight and sound of the cars in full flow, running against the clock.
"The Members' Meeting is a tremendous opportunity for Goodwood to explore different eras and branches of motor sport history and show new generations why they remain so special."

the ultimate project? You can buy it flat packed and build it at home to save on price:

The New 1200bhp, Manual-Only Ultima RS Is A Supercar Of The Old School

With a low weight figure, no driver aids, a manual 'box and up to 1200bhp on tap, the latest Ultima is a glorious supercar anachronism

https://www.carthrottle.com/post/th...MVntC5kZ41f3qWIH-tbqv-uDahvBR6Tbinfmk3j-jM3J8

In a world of extraordinarily expensive and super-exotic hypercars, small UK-based firm Ultima presents a less pricey way of going stupidly fast. It?s been kicking out V8-powered supercars in kit form for three decades now, all of them sticking to the same disarmingly simple theme.
The latest one, the RS, doesn?t stray too far from the tried and tested Ultima recipe, although it does introduce luxuries that aren?t on the Evo - like a tinted glass and pneumatic lumbar supports, available along with existing options like a heated windscreen and sat-nav. This thing has ?daily driver? written all over it.

We suspect you?re more interested in the new bits that make the Ultima RS quicker, and worry not, there are many. It has the same basic shape as the old one, but the body features a new front splitter, dive planes, wheel arch vents all round, vortex generators and rear diffuser.
NACA ducts are liberally spread over the RS, while at the back, there?s a massive new carbonfibre wing with nine levels of adjustability. It hangs on motorsport-style ?swan neck? mounts.

The body panels are made from glass fibre-reinforced plastic, with the front and rear clamshells reprofiled to fit new 19-inch wheels. The new rims can be shod in either Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s or PS4 S tyres.
There are double wishbones front and rear, plus dampers that are bump, rebound and height adjustable. Keeping everything together is a ?fully updated? tubular space frame.
All of this amounts to something that doesn?t weigh an awful lot. The figure will vary depending on the spec you go for, but you?re generally looking at around 930kg.

That?s important, as even if you go for the base version with a 480bhp GM LT1 V8 crate engine, the power-to-weight ratio will be spectacular. That should be pokey enough for most, but you can instead opt for a 650bhp LT4, an 800bhp LT5, or even an upgraded version of the latter with 1200bhp.
Now seems like a good time to mention that electronic driver aids aren?t on the menu. Nope, not even ABS. There aren?t any fancy dual-clutch or race-spec sequential gearboxes available either - every RS will be sold with a six-speed manual gearbox. Ultima says that its cars are ?primarily designed to maximize driver engagement and to provide an old school Le Mans inspired thrill?. Nothing other than three pedals and a shift lever will provide that, as far as it?s concerned.

Performance figures for the full 1200bhp dose of Ultima madness haven?t been released, but we do know that the 800bhp does 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds and 0-100mph in 4.8, on to a top speed of 250mph limited by the gearing. Even the entry-level car will do 100mph in 6.2 seconds.
There?s no mention of prices, which in any case will vary wildly depending on the chosen options. However, the Leicester-based company does say it?s possible to self-build an Ultima RS ?for around the same ballpark price as a mundane new BMW M3?. That?s a lot of bang for your buck, even if the statement seems a little harsh on the poor M3.
If you?d prefer, turnkey versions can factory-built to ?special order.?

Nissan unveils an electric track weapon

https://drivetribe.com/p/nissan-unv...mpaign=main+&utm_medium=fb&utm_source=organic

Nissan introduced the Leaf, an all-electric hatchback for the city dweller, in 2010. You may laugh but the Leaf is one of the best-selling EVs in the world (over 450,000 units sold) and that means, sorry for being blunt, cash. And a lot of it. So Nissan decided to invest some of that cash to make the Leaf more exciting by unveiling a ready-to-race NISMO RC version.
The electric unit in the all-wheel-drive Leaf Nismo RC produces 322 hp and 640 Nm, good enough for a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds. Nissan also says the Leaf Nismo RC is going to be the bedrock on which Nissan's performance EVs are built.
The Leaf Nismo RC is using Nissan's ProPilot technology with e-Pedal for "one-pedal driving", allowing the driver to start, accelerate, decelerate with one pedal only thanks to a KERS-like energy recuperation system under braking.View attachment 115017

I Struggle To Find A Better Options List Than The 1992 Subaru Domingo
(nice calatologue photos in the link)

https://jalopnik.com/i-struggle-to-...T-bLc759iLx5vFnNdyv7d5u6ToDL7lISeYUvpPLzQGjCQ

You?re Subaru and it?s the early 1990s. You need something to make your small family van stand out in a crowded market. It comes to you in a flash: what if you could option it with a tent, a bicycle, a grill, a cooler, a ski rack, several sun visors, a backup mirror, and at least two Momo steering wheels.
This was all available to you, should you have opened up the 1992 Subaru Domingo accessories brochure and flipped through the sections on Outdoor, Family Drive, Audio/Interior, and Exterior. As for me, I only gander through the wonderful PlayWithLegacyRS, a Subaru fan site that scanned a ton of these old brochures. They are all amazing.
It?s stunning just how much gear Subaru was willing to sell you, even if not a lot of it was Subaru junk. The car company wasn?t making a Coleman grill, nor was it producing walkie-talkies for, uh, whatever you use walkie-talkies for. If you and your family wanted to pull off an elaborate heist, I guess the Subaru Domingo accessories brochure was here for you.
The interior section is also wonderful. Since this is a van, you get lots of nice curtains, but also tables, including one for the middle seats and one for the driver. There are also off roading gauges since the car has AWD, and two Momo steering wheels because it?s 1992.
The best part thought may be the wonderful car dress up items, which let you deck out your bigger-than-a-kei-class vanlet with tough wheels and even tougher visors, lights, and mirrors. This is Quadrophenia-grade acessorizing.
Would I be running to the nearest Subaru dealership if I could deck out a new Impreza with this kind of gear? Yes. Extremely yes.

Ya he still has it it's his daily driver???? he bought DaveR's wrx ra a few years ago so hes happy out :subaru:

Petter Solberg will drive an ex-Richard Burns Subaru at Goodwood

https://www.autosport.com/historics...HHekDs_Swmjf818_TdqURYFkKlHXEh139FwPXtn-xRuyc

Norwegian rally ace Petter Solberg will top the field for the Rally Sprint running at this year's Goodwood Members' Meeting at the wheel of Richard Burns' 2000 Rally GB-winning Subaru Impreza.
Solberg, the 2003 World Rally champion and two-time World Rallycross champion, will go up against other stars including Emanuele Pirro (Ferrari 308 GTB), five-time British champion Jimmy McRae (Vauxhall Chevette HSR) and Kalle Grundel (Ford RS200). Former World Rally Championship star Matthew Wilson will run as course car in the new M-Sport Fiesta WRC.
The format for the Rally Sprint at the 78th Members' Meeting on March 28/29 has been unveiled and will start with one practice and one timed run after racing on Saturday, starting at 1845hrs.
The third timed run will take place on Sunday morning before racing begins. Saturday's running will be in the dusk and darkness and results will be based on aggregate times for the second and third runs.
The route for the rally stage has been confirmed and will not take in the access tunnel as part of the competitive route as initially planned. The action will centre on the pit straight, chicane and Woodcote Corner as Group 4, Group B, Group A and WRC cars go against the clock.
The stage will start by the front of the grid with cars heading in the opposite direction to normal past the pits, through the chicane and out to three hairpins in the run up to Woodcote. Then it is back through the chicane, with a double loop, and then down the pit lane in the correct direction before a hairpin left to the finish.

1.8L new engine

The new Levorg uses a newly developed 1.8L horizontally opposed 4-cylinder turbo engine, which is the fourth generation. This is the successor to the current 1.6-liter engine, and looking forward, fuel efficiency must first be improved. On the other hand, the fun part of "safety and pleasure", which is the value provided by SUBARU, must also be firmly extended. As a result of exploring the best balance, we reached the conclusion of increasing the displacement by 0.2L. For a Levorg engine, just because it has good fuel economy doesn't make sense. Aiming for the best balance without being bound by the displacement. This is what we call light sizing. Lean combustion technology has been newly incorporated as a technology that balances fuel economy and driving enjoyment. The fuel injection amount (for the same amount of air) can be reduced compared to the past, so even if the displacement is increased, fuel efficiency can be improved. Of course, by increasing the sense of torque in all areas, it is possible to accelerate firmly whenever necessary, and the exhilarating acceleration of a turbocharged car can also be obtained. Turbo-like driving is one of the attractions of Levorg. In terms of fuel efficiency, we have also modified the Lineartronic (CVT) and contributed to improved fuel efficiency by making it a wider ratio.

Dont know much about rebuilding or upgrading diffs but this May be of use to someone:ponder2:
