hi lads lookin for a classic shape sti impreza pref 2dr but will consider a 4dr aswell
car must be mint and have had a engine rebuild by a reputable company at some point and be running perfect
dont want a highly modified car and i have cash waitin for the right car
i am very fussy so please dont waiste my time and i wont waiste yours

So your looking for a mint classic impreza with a rebuild by a reputable company and your fussy . . . . . . . . But you dont want to spend money :ponder2:
Why would you not spend 6-7K on a 97 type r with a new rebuild or even the 98 type r that also has a fresh rebuild with some nice bits and pieces for 6,250

I dont get why you mentioned this if you are on the look out for a mint '97 type R but only willing to spend around 4k. Hardly mint with rear damage :ponder2:

Just to echo what Pete has posted...I think you are asking for too much while staying within your budget.

Sorry... but this is a bullshit post! :sucks:

If you are after a clean type R and you are as fussy as you say you are... you are wasting your time trying to get a a good, rebuilt car for 4k. You get what you pay for... and trust me... it'll cost you a lot more in the long run buying a 1800 car with rear damage.

What do you want... a mint car that's freshly buiilt...?????? Then it's going to cost you at least 6k! And there are plenty of great members cars for sale here... worth that all day long!

If you choose to ignore this... and do find yourself a car for 4k or less.... then you have my word, that car willl cause you nothing more than heartache and expense.... as a a 4k type R... is a 4k basket case car!

As Andy C said... you are asking too much while trying to stay within your budget! :snooty:

because in todays market i am not payin that money for a 97 impreza, not a chance of it, look how long it takes them to sell on here and donedeal, its a buyers market as im sure you have noticed, sure the white 97 mo reg 2dr on here is for sale 5 months for 5500 with a rebuild and it hasnt sold so 1 for 7k wont be goin anywhere fast

it had very light rear damage, bumper and a light and a small bit of spraying, no pullin or anything like that
would you have turned it down at that money even if it wasnt perfect?
even in parts its worth way more

why is every1 gettin there nickers in a twist, why are you gettin so worked up?
a rebuild in the last year or two is all im after, doesnt have to have 0 milage
i know this is a owners club and you guys are goin to be biast towards your own cars which is understandable but if you havnt noticed how hard sold evos/imprezas are lately and how much they have droped in price then wake up, il wait my time and get 1 for around that money, christmass is coming and lads will be stuck and have to sell, unfortunatly for the seller thats the way things are, i dont care how good the car is im not payin 6 to 7k for a 97 2dr

No knickers twisted here  But if your budget is that tight you will never be able to run and maintain your car the way it should and even if you buy a minter for 4k,it will be a sh1tbox before long without good servicing and maintenence. Good luck with you search all the same i hope you get the car your after.

i have plenty of money but not spending it all on 1 car, need a everyday car aswell so i dont have to drive the impreza all the time and want to keep money spare for a business venture
they are out there its just a matter of right place right time...

More than entitled to wait and pay whatever you want for a car.. It is a buyers market and if it takes a couple of weeks/months one will eventually come from someone who is willing to take that sort of money  ... When you think about it, it is nearly a 14 year old car after all..

Have to disagree with all the people saying that a 4-4.5k impreza will be a dog or basket case, a friend sold a white 97 2 door with a newly rebuilt engine for 4.5k, car had nice wheels, decent suspension and fully serviced and it was in excellent condition, at the end of the day something is only worth what someone else will pay for it.

exactly lads, this is a thread looking for a car within my budget and look at all the waffle posted in it, can admin edit it please?

35 replys and only 5 offering cars :hammerhead:

I would look at it as good advice not waffle. These are all people that have owned subarus and know about them.
Lads are only trying to stear you in the right direction from buying a cheap car that ends up costing more to you in the long run.

:lolpoint: i agree wit pete i know the budget is tight but be very hard to get a mint type r wit a rebuild for 4k rebuild alone back standard is at least 2k and wont even buy a type r without a rebuild for 4k either lad
