What did you do to your car today?

Took the rusty, rattling heatshields off my headers today and replaced them with some fresh DEI titanium heatwrap. slow time consuming job to do right but think they turned out ok for a first attempt:

I used a 2" x 50ft roll i thought i would have some left over to do the up pipe aswell but its a tricky shape to do right so more overlaps than expected. Maybe i should have wrapped each pipe seperately. I think 1" wide would have been better too. Smokes like crazy though, everytime you stop at lights people thinking your engine is on fire! i'll do the uppipe when turbo gets installed

Dan, looks good.. But you need to use stainless locking wire, if not it's gonna come loose and come off, the stainless ties are not really good, want the wire every 2 inches, possibly closer on the bends

Got the car mapped, been along time since the rolling road at couture, since then, many many changes, and finally the map is done.. Happy days

Who mapped it ?

Paul from Zen came over to me, spent a day and half setting it all up and mapping.

I'd say ebay Dan would be your best bet, it's used in Motorsport, especially motor bikes where nuts are lock wired on, oil caps etc etc... You can buy a special pliers aswell which spins... I have some here, but that ain't much use to you lol... If you use normal wire it will rust in about 3 weeks

might give it a go so, whats the fancy pliers called to secure it? so your just wrapping this around a few points and twisting it round itself to secure it tight? if thats so would any pliers do?

I wired in the parrot kit yesterday, didn't take long. They are some job, don't know i didn't get one sooner. Front tyres fitted this morning. Boot was all wet after been parked for a few months so have to see where its coming in.

Yep, normal pliers and twist it... The lock wire pliers had a spinner in it.. You need to do it every 2 inches Dan... That way if one breaks or wrdp gets torn it has only max 2" to it's next tie point.

CV Joints done and a well over due full service today, no more click click click its the little things in life

Failed NCT on emissions today, so will have to figure out whats up there. But this AFR wideaband gauge that turned up might help if its just a case that its running too rich maybe, will come in handy for any future mapping too :)

Collected car and drove it for the first time since August of last year, took off the god awful 3inch mongoose exhaust system and replaced with a power flow exhaust... Did I think to take photos... :hammerhead: :hammerhead:

Afterwards I got the car four wheel aligned as the new bushes put her out of whack a bit. Happy camper now... :changinggear: :scoobyblueisdc: :smokesubaru
