Took pictures tonight rob, without the flash you couldn't make a thing out, will get a better shot in daylight at some stage.

I was only takin the mick (excuse the pun  ), it looks very well. Did you do the left and right air vent surrounds as well?

Not yet Rob, will hopefully get a change to tackle them this weekend, do you know if they just pull off or how you go about getting them out :iamwithstupid:

Nope, because that was gonna be my next question

Was planning on doing mine matt black but will see how you get on at the weekend first

replacement coolant overflow bottle snapped of its mounting bracket and was dangling against my radiator fan shroud for a day or two. Need to source a stronger, more secure alternative, cable ties are currently keeping it in place!

Not what i did but more what dave from sti tuning did ; got to the bottom of the knocking noise from my engine. Turns out it just may have been a broken spark plug end and not a big end failure

Sound guy

What??? the plug end was rattling around in the cylinder??

So probably easier if Dave, Dec or someone with a better knowledge explains it but basically the end of one of the sparks plugs broke off and was crushed by the piston causing it to break up , slight damage to piston and head but easily fixed by the machine shop, so all cleaned up and put back together i should be back motoring by Monday week

Failure was broken plug tip.

Head damage will clean up. All valves to be removed, checked. replace any needed and reseated.

Piston damaged will not be used again. Replacement required.

Very luck no cylinder wall marks or damage.

No pick up on bearings.

So be fresh recon. New big end and mains, new oil pump, new piston rings, all gaskets, all seals, new timing belt

good to go.
