What did you do to your car today?

Hey Niall,

They are great in the wet & the snow & really paid for themselves earlier in the week with the bad rain. I drove though some serious unexpected flood water on the backroads up in the Wicklow hills and in it never once pulled left or right or aqua-planed on me.

I bought them last year and unfortunately with no snow I never got a chance to put them through their paces... but would assume they should perform well.

In saying that... once the temperature is above 10 degrees or so and it's dry... they are awful. Wallowy... piss poor grip... and wear terribly fast!

With reports of a cold winter coming though and the amount of fecking rain we get till later spring... they should proove a worth while purchase i hope,

J..

..... Appreciated it!! :)

Put my winter wheels and snow tyres back on last weekend... And glad I did as the roads up in Rounwood were lethal this morning... A couple of moments... But such capable cars!! Roll on the snow!!
[/quote]

what tyres you have? i have a set of nankang sv2 there on my standard alloys, work well when there is snow and below freezing, not so good on ice but i think all winter tyres suffer from that unless they have studs

I've the same tyres Dan... Not the best brand I know but haven't been disappointed yet in the wet conditions. Today was the first time I experienced ice and as you said unless you've studs nothing will get you out of trouble on ice... In saying that they did cope reasonably well. Praying for snow now so as to really test time... And to hopefully get some time off work!! :)

they are a grand tyre not so grippy in warm weather over 15c if driving hard and softer sidewalls but beat any summer tyres in the cold weather, i got the that year we got the big freeze, literally the day it started and was a great purchase. just looking to get some use form them again, once you have them fitted though you cant really stay at home because of the snow!

Neighbor told me they had 4-5 foot snow drifts up here in Roundwood back 2010 so no snow tyre will beat that and get me to work Dan... Probably won't even be able to find the car if it's anywhere near that bad again this year!! :p

service and NCT Next, and maybe a set coilovers for christmas, piggy bank is then well empty :icon_sad: but ill worry about fuel and tax later :icon_biggrin:

Looking forward to seeing that on the road, shame to see them locked away. Just be careful using it during the winter, the salt will eat away at it.
