LISBON TREATY VOTE NO

Its a weird sort of democracy in this country we vote No for anything and the

Goverment just put it back out again till they get a Yes, well its No for me.

At the end of the day Ireland needs Europe. They have pumped billions into this country already and without it this country wouldnt be far from a 3rd world country.

i voted yes and i will be voting yes again the treaty has been changed from the last time slightly so whatver your views on the govt are i think they are irrelivant on this

issue we need europe more than they need us we get billions of euro of europe so sayinf FU is not the best way IMO

people we afraid when we were joining the EEC in 1973 but in nearly 40 years we have done the better out of it

im voting Yes

have a read of that site before deciding guys. No point in basing a vote on what you hear from people on the street or conversations in the pub.

Reading the information, I see no reason to vote no. Based on that information I will be voting YES.

The majority of people that I know voted no last year because we had no idea what the treaty was about as there was no information available. Can anybody provide me with any genuine reason to vote no this time other than "to say Fook you to the government"?? The government (as crap as they are) have realised they made a mistake last time and are at least providing the information this time around. We are better off supporting the EU than not and if all the recognised political parties are agreeing that we should vote yes, then why should we vote no, someone must have a genuine reason??

It's rediculous that a lot of peoples reason for NO was to say :hjtwofinger: to the government
It's this type of carry on that makes me think that the government should not give the people a choice, We elected them to run our country, They should just do that!
They don't ask us when they want to reduce a speed limit near a school,

As posted above, the fact that the main political partys are all standing together in favour of the treaty! It's that important!
We as a country will be far more stable when we are more closely linked the Europe!
France and Germany are out of ressesion now, that's a strong family to be a part of!

what benefit will i get from a YES vote lads???
the government fooked up when the times where good...celtic tiger and all that....
spent money we didnt have and as long as that biffo bollox is paid more than obama. i wont vote .....
still havent a clue what its all about... :dontknow:
hate how this contry is run....
:angry1: :angry1:

No one could have predicted our situation!
I know a lad, Who when he had his first child 18 years ago, he was pure broke, even 15 years ago still borrowing money from his dad!
He was very very smart, kept his ear to the ground andworked hard,
Now he owns houses everywhere, and his key rack in side his front door would make you sick, Merc S class, 7 series, XK8, Range Rover, BENTLEY Arnage etc etc.....

Point here is, This lad is not a fat politician, or a born rich lad spending perants money, He was smart enough to make it all happen for himself,
And he still went into the Bentley dealership in 2008 and specced up and bought a top of the range Arnage Turbo (6.75L)

Now it's locked away out of sight!

There is no point in biting all our noses off to spite the governments running of our country,
How can that help our country??,
Sure do what the opposition party says to do then (they hate the governing partys to) they say Vote YES to lisbon

I'll definitely VOTE YES !!!!!!

for one very simple fact , Financially we are fucked with out Europe .
As a very small Island nation we will not prosper without a direct link with Europe and that's fact.

Now been a member of the EU is not all what is cracked up to be , Lets be honest we got all those billions for one reason & one
reason only ......................so we would be forced to open Our borders and take in all Our European cousins .....( not been racist now or anything,
i think it was great to see so many new people , especially all the lovely girlies , but there has to be a limit)

So i think we need to go into this with Our Eyes Wide Open . If we want Ireland to grow rapidly over the next ten years ,
attract new companys and basically get people back to work then it's a YES vote.

Now all that said we voted NO .............which was laughed at by the big EU nations and we where told to simply vote again.
That is Not democratic ...................it's an absolute disgrace but lets be honest, do ye think they will have any more respect for us
if we vote NO again , in affect we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot AGAIN !!!

As for all those Posters with there crap about minimum wage etc...... it's lies lads absolute lies (personaly i think the parties behind smear campagins like this
should be skull dragged before the courts and made accountable )

It's not fair and as we can clearly see from the posts above , if you print it, people will believe it.

BTW: Michael O'Leary (Ryanair) let all the English press know , he was removing all seats in his planes and making them standing only
and what did they do , they fooking believed him and spent the rest of the week , discussing him Ryanair etc............ basically it was a PR stunt
same as all those stupid posters .

So Lads before ye VOTE , get the facts and make an informed decision

lads what ever way you decide to vote be sure to actually do that VOTE

the worst thing you can do is not vote

you see people giving out sh1te about the govt or a referendum or whatever and they havent voted which is ridiculus

at least if you vote you can say you tried to help whatever you decided to support

so use your your hard earned right to vote there are too many countries were your told like it or else :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

dont waste your vote

we have lost more money from giving our fishing waters away then we have ever recieved from the eu

There are some good arguments above for and against the treaty....
I didnt vote first time but will definitely vote this time.....

I wont take the stance of %^ck you Mr Government cause at the end of the day that will hurt me again in the long run.
Havent decided what way to vote yet........ HOWEVER my decision will be an informed decision. I will do all the research i need to do to find out what a vote in either direction will mean in the long term.

mark,
i voted NO first time around and that was a wasted vote coz europe said "do it again"
what democracy???
:icon_confused:

vote yes for the country, if we turn around and tell the eu to fook them selves they will look and laugh at us, and do we think that the country will fix its self?? hardly not it took the eu to help us out before and we grabbed with both hands and now they ask for an opinion to help the eu work as a system which isnt really going to change our lives but they have to keep updating rules with other countries joining to keep all parties happy,

and from wot iv read all the polliticans that have said vote no have always tried to stir the bucket to get some money out of it,

i voted no the last time because i didnt have a clue wot it was i was voting for, so i decided to get off my arse and read wot it is all about, and some of it was actually very good reading, and most of it actully makes sence.

just my opinion.

thanks noel

some good points lads but i will still be voting no. yes we have received a fortune from the eu and they blew a vast amount of this on fat politician wages, stupid monuments and roads that should have paid for there own redevelopment(m50). do you believe the eu are blind to how wastefull this island is? the tax payers are now baling out the banks and the government when we should be lookin after our own genuine people that are on the labour who are now being treathened with poverty due to social welfare cuts. the eu is not a bottomless pit of money. like any company or business. we will reach out overdraft limit then they will close our account and want payment.we need a full government clearout and we need to stand our ground on this no vote. this country has no balls.we voted no once and they think we are going back down like we always do (bin charges, tv licences, tax increases, levy, vrt) and the new ones they want to introduce( poll taxes, carbon taxes and water charges). i for one am sick of takin it up the ass from this goverment and there is no way im changing my given right to my opinion cause its not what they wanted!! :angry1:

Do not vote 'yes'. If you do,the following will happen
1. You will never be asked your opinion again on anything
2. Germany will be running Europe(Hitler will have one)
3. Young people of Ireland will be conscripted into a european army(good for employment i suppose)
4. We will be forced to pay back every cent we got from Europe to help the newer states
5. We can look forward to carbon tax, house tax and EU slush fund tax as well as our existing taxes.
6. Employers will be able to bring in foreign workers and replace you as they are cheaper
7. The assurance that the politians have given are verbal and not worth the paper they are written on.If they had done any change to the treaty it would have to be repassed by all states again.
8. All surveys carried out in Europe said the treaty would not have been passed in any country, only we had the protection of our constitution, given to us by our ancestors. This will overwrite any choice we had.
9. Oh yeah and it still be raining.Sounds like it will be a great laugh if 'IT' gets in. :icon_rolleyes:

[/quote]I heard all the above aswell. I have also been reading through the web that many other countries regret joining the Lisbon treaty. Besides all that, the fact that our opinions didn't count in the first place just leads me to believe that for some reason benifits the polititions rather than the people. I dont trust the government or the polititions in this country and I know its our own fault for bending over constantly and asking to be shafted but there is not a hope in hell I am voting YES. If they cannot look after such a small country like Ireland in its good times, the definately cannot protect our rights when they come up against governments that look after the people and know how to work the system to benifit their country and not just themselves

Didnt vote last time.

But we need to be part of europe.Cant see any good reason for voting against.

And will be voting this time
